bbeatsIf you missed Monday's Sound Chat (April 23), you missed a heated discussion. The phone lines were
on fire as we discussed the fact that currently young sound systems are failing to make a mark in the
industry. The sound arena has become dormant for many reasons and Sound Chat listeners didn't
hesitate to give their views. Amongst some of the more popular complaints were: today's sound
systems and selectors can't appreciate the craft because they didn't receive the proper grooming.
Listeners debated that the selectors of the industry's most successful sound systems all started from
scratch. This means lifting boxes, rolling wires, setting up the sound, driving on the truck etc. Some fans
tend to believe that such duties gave young selectors an appreciation of the music; other fans debated
the fact that technology has further disintegrated the standards which qualifies a person to become
a selector. Some fans even went as far as saying the patrons should be blamed for new sounds not
getting a break because they won't accept changes and continuously show up late to events. With all
the above being stated, if you are a true dancehall fan Monday's show was something that you would
enjoy listening.

Opinions were given from top selectors such as Geefus from Stone Love, Jazzy T from Renaissance and
Johnny from Bodyguard.
