Bolt's spikes to be auctioned

The fastest man on the planet Usain bolt will have a pair of his running spikes auctoined as the main prize at a charity event hosted by The Jamaica Society in Leeds on July 21. The pair is autographed by Bolt and is made of the trademark specially-made blue and day-glo gold spikes. This along with a signed photo of the Jamaican sprinterBolt spikes will be up for grabs at their annual ball as part of the Jamaica 50 celebration at Yorkshire County Cricket Club at Headingley Carnegie on July 21.

The spikes are currently on display at the Leeds City Museum until July 14.

"This is an amazing coup to have these special Usain Bolt running spikes signed by the man himself on display in Leeds City Museum for people to see, so a big thank you to The Jamaica Society for loaning them to us temporarily," said Leeds City Council executive member for leisure and skills Councillor Adam Ogilvie.

The theme for this year's ball of The Jamaica Society is 'Going For Gold', and proceeds from the auction will be in support of Yorkshire Cancer Research, Jamaica Cancer Society and The Salvation Army International.
