Organisers of the Montreal International Reggae Festival (MIRF), is said to be an avid lover of reggae music. Despite all the challenges facing the music today he continue sto keep the annual festival in Canada.

"I am an electrician by trade but I became a promoter because of the love of the reggae music. Maybe I could make more money doing other promotions but reggae is my first and greatest love. When I saw that there was no equivalent of a Reggae Sunsplash in Jamaica here in Montreal, I asked my friends, why we can't bring reggae to Montreal? I told them, "let's start a Sunsplash in Jamaica", that's why I started this festival. I love music so much even if it make or break me, I put everything in it. I am not a singer, but mi love reggae so much that I want to spread the love all over the world," Mr. Blagrove said.

Blagrove, who grew up in Flankers, Montego Bay, used to be in the sound system game where he was an electrician back in the days working with the Stepper Sound from Montego Bay, St. James. Now he is the man behind a festival which has established itself as one of the best reggae festivals in eastern North America over the past nine years, bringing in such heavyweights as Black Uhuru, Barrington Levy, I Wayne and others to one of reggae's biggest emerging markets.

The festival marks its ninth edition this year and the team is particularly proud to celebrate Jamaica's 50 years of independence with some of the leading and most prolific ambassadors in the history of Reggae.
