Addijaheim Palmer aka Vybz Kartel has been freed of possession of marijuana charges when he appeared in the Half Way Tree Resident Magistrates' court yesterday morning. Kartel's lawyers were not surprised as they had expected the case to be thrown out due to insufficient evidence linking him to the illegal drug. This latest development is fueling speculation that he may be out on bail in time to perform at next month's Reggae Sumfest.

In October 2011 Kartel was arrested at a New Kingston hotel after ganja was found in the room he occupied, but not on the deejay's 'person' a female occupant of the room had claimed the substance as belonging to her and therefore it was always going to be difficult for the state to prove that it had belonged to the deejay.

In another matter involving the deejay, rumours circulating that the deejay had been stabbed in the neck at Horizon Remand centre have proven to be untrue.
