The vibe shared between Pinchers and me in this week's "SOUND CHAT" was cool, but got a little challenging at times. Man! He held back a lot of stuff regarding his clashes with the top artists of his era. I used to listen to the tapes of all the top stage shows! Sting, Fresh, etc.. and Pinchers, Sanchez, and a few other artists were always battling for the spotlight. In his day, singers clashed like the were DJs.
Anyway, I tried my best to lead our conversation in the direction of the artist clashes, but somehow Pinchers avoided the trap. All was not lost!! I did get him to speak of his historical clash with Sanchez and his face off with Pliers (an artist who sounds just like him). He was slick, but no one is slick enough to get away from "talking di tings" on SOUND CHAT!
I enjoyed the vibe....Pinchers is the oringal singjay. He helped mold dancehall!
