As spring approaches, it's time for us to begin planning our events roster. Of course, there will be more theatre activities surrounding the Irish and Chin brand, but that part of the planning preparation is always easy....pretty much the plays sell themselves.
Where the hard work lies is in the planning of our huge dancehall events. Next at bat will be our third edition of Reeewind. This year I want it to be a celebration of Mighty Crown's 20th Anniversary and at the same time not lose the focus of its rub-a-dub theme. To do so, we came up with the theme: Rub-A-Dub meets Dancehall.
The date has been set for Saturday, April 30 in Club Amazura and of course we are planning a star studded lineup which will continue to make Reeewind New York's premier indoor event of the year. As you know, there are many challenges promoters have to face when putting together artiste lineups!..... (visas, work permits etc). All in a nutshell it spells difficulty by every definition of the word. Nevertheless, the show must go on. So, last Saturday we launched the radio campaign for this year's event on New York's Irie Jam Radio.
The response was overwhelming. We asked patrons to text in the names of the artiste they would like to see on the next Reeewind and the phone was instantly flooded. Some of the requests were definitely impossible; for instance quite a few people requested Nicodemus (deceased). But overall there were some good suggestions that are worth looking into. For the next two weeks the request line will be open for those who continue to have suggestions for the event. The number to text is 347 781 3653. Once the lineup is completed it will be hard work as usual. The Irish and Chin team will be in the streets heavy.
So mark the date on your calendar, Saturday, April 30 Mighty Crown 20th Anniversary celebration/Reeewind #3...... maaaadddd!!
