I am excited about "RIDDIM CLASH" this year. It's a great look for the new generation of sound clash contenders. Most of the sounds on the line up have shown great potential in the last few years.
City Lock is a very good sound system. They love the music and are very competitive. Rootsman is hungry for victory. They are on a quest to become international known. I rate them because their ambition extends way beyond Canada's borders. And let's face it; one cannot buss worldwide winning clashes in Canada only. Rootsman has some nice dubs on some strong riddims. They are ready for Europe in my book and should launch a great fight.
The Guiding Star I know has a member named Jacob. If it's the same sound that's booked for this year RIDDIM clash, then I can say they have nuff dubs. I have never heard them clash, but Jacob cuts a lot of dubs and he knows the music.
Blunt Posse out classes all these sound on the bill. Blunt has too much experience, when compare to the other sounds. This should be an easy clash for AJAX. He has the dubs and speech to run over these sounds. In fact I don't think Blunt Posse should be in this clash. It's not fair to the other sounds that are trying to buss! Blunt is in a different league, a bigger league at that. But whatever.. Ajax please make sure you win this one dawg! If not, you will look bad!
But to be honest I don't want Blunt to win this one. Even though they must in order to show they are of a higher rank. The sound I want to win is Poison Dart from Antigua. Bad sound!! very under rated but baddd sound nevertheless. They have been in it for awhile, trying to make a name outside of Antigua. Years ago they did World Clash and went home with high praise. Afterwards they appeared on other Irish and Chin events and seized solid performances, but they quickly fell off the international scene. Locally, in Antigua they have been holding down the clash arena, but they should be doing a lot more. This Poison Dart can bring a lot to the table. They are hands down the best Caribbean sound (not including Jamaica) in the clash arena. Damn, I forgot about Matsimela from Trinidad. They are bad too. I would give them second place in the Caribbean but it’s a very close second. A tight comparison still! I don't want to put my foot in my mouth so let me just say both sounds are the best the Caribbean has to offer (outside of Jamaica) but in this case I am in favor of Poison Dart. Poison Dart's opportunity is long overdue. I hope they win!
But if they don’t the winner has to be Blunt Posse. Anything else would shock the shit out of me.
