The pressure is on!!!!

pressure_cooker_recipes_01The pressure is on!  It's mid summer and I have yet to see a successful dance and/or park show in NY.  Everything is flopping real real bad!  Every promoter i talk to... is confused with what's happening.  It is not that they are promoting weak shit.  Some of them are actually making an effort to promote good packages.  However... it's the same story... empty venues.   The Tri- state is feeling it right now!  "DANCEHALL" is only pulling a limited amount of patrons.

Stone Love and Bass Odyssey played together in Hartford, CT recently and the pull was about 300 persons!  Once upon a time, that would be an easy 700 - 1000 persons.  Many of you would like to blame the promoters but this problem is way beyond promotions.  All promoter can't be so lame!!  This problem is internal.  And sectures of the industry should be blamed. What's your view?

Quoting Edwin Arzu:
The factors vary from contemporary musical content and basic economics.

Bored at work so ..

economics & laziness on Soundman dem parts. Good music is out there..but these fucknuts only play a small portion over & over..Going to a dance is really no different than lissening your radio..Popular doesnt always translate to QUALITY..shit.. Vanilla Ice went Multi-Platinum.
Sounds need to build up dem fan base also. How is that done?..

i think its a change in the times, dancehall isnt wat it use to be and the music now a days is too hardcore for the real party patrons. its very badman lyrics dominated or extremely slack music. its not catoring to everybody jus a certain sector. the solution is simple, artist mek betta music n the dances will be nicer, most selectors have to b forced to play d same juggling for a longtime becuse no new good decent music is coming out

I blame the audience. Is it so hard to hand over their hard earned money!

thats happening because some sound man like to act like them bigger than them shoes and people need them when its the other way around.....if you look at some sounds they play hard wherever they go and then some sounds depending on where or who they playing for that is how they perform when that is wrong everybody pays to see you guys pefrorm at your best not half ass....for eg DAVID RODIGAN any clash or juggling you look at with him you get your moneys worth DOWNBEAT also

I'm hoping that this shit doesn't last and some clashes start soon if not the business will be long gone. We will just have cds of old clashes to listen too

I dont blame the promotors, i blame the sounds. in the 90's when the sound system thing was at its peak the formula was simple. stay consistant and play regardless. sounds now a days dont play unless they get world clash like setting around them. I remember sounds traveling with boxes of dubplates and crashing each other dances to clash and juggle. it was a hunger and something to prove. Normally you wouldnt go to a earthRuler dance and just get earth ruler. You would go and get 3 or 4 other TOP NY sounds that just showed up.

too much stage and lights, it needs to get back to dark venues with the only lights coming from the sound system. simple
