Una Morgan – On Her Own
On the heels of an accomplished and decorated career with the famed Morgan Heritage group, Una Morgan is elevating herself to another level in a solo capacity. Members of the group last year decided to pursue solo projects, and Una Morgan is ready to let the world hear her style, with the impending release of her debut solo album, fittingly titled Just Me. The 12-track set will showcase the tremendous depth and talent of the sole female member of Morgan Heritage, who is a trained musician and vocalist, and seasoned stage performer. Una’s solo album marks a personal triumph, which only adds to the accolades she has already received while touring the world with her brothers.

She notes that all the tracks of the album will reveal a personal and unique side of Una that some fans may not have known her for before.
“I’m simply gonna do the music, and when everyone hears it they will know it’s just me,” Una smiled as she shared the rationale behind the title of the album.

“It’s a fusion of R & B, Hip Hop, Reggae and even some Dancehall,” she adds.

The beautiful reggae crooner notes that the album is in the middle of production now, and fuses themes for a wide mix of fun and soul. Among the notable tracks are a cover of Sade’s Cherish the Day, plus a rendition of My Jamaican Guy by Grace Jones, an artiste she feels should get more respect for her work within Reggae. Production for the special blend of music for Just Me includes the talented Shane Brown, Producer X out of Springfield in the US, and her brothers. Other US-based producers rounds out the specially assembled team who are working on the album for an early 2010 release.
Sourcing material for her music, she notes, was not difficult. She explains that the inspiration is right around her.

“My experiences as a woman, a mother, sister, friend...these form my reality and from them I can draw.”

Una’s release comes as other members of the group are also preparing solo albums. Una notes that this is the appropriate time for it to be done.
“It’s just the time, because as a group we did so much together,” she explains. “We accomplished so much together, and it was time to branch out a bit. But as a true unit we can step away and can come back together anytime we want to.”

Following the album’s official release, she has plans for a series of promotional tours across the world. She intends to balance this, along with doing work with the group if the need arises, with her full time job as a mother of three, something she admits isn’t easy.

Una pledges to her fans that this will be a treat of an album, and that she will remain deeply involved in her music.

“For my fans I hope they love it. I’ve been asked for a long time about when I would release a solo album, so here it is.”
